Isabel Ruiz-Mallén – Project Coordinator
Ramón y Cajal Research Fellow, she is a senior researcher at the IN3-Open University of Catalonia (UOC) and an associated researcher at the ICTA-Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).She has a professional background in environmental science research, and specifically in environmental education, community-based natural resource management and biodiversity conservation, environmental governance and participatory research approaches. Her research interests now focus onscience learning and engagement,and co-creation for sustainable and resilient cities. She is a member of the Catalan Council of Science Communication (C4).
Paula Ximena Fernández – Project Manager
Paula is the current project manager of the PERFORM project. She is a biomedical research scientist holding a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Immunology at University of Buenos Aires. She then obtained the American Cancer Society International Grant for Beginning Investigators (ACSBI) to pursue her research in the University of Barcelona. The main field of her work has been cancer research and treatment. Paula also worked as an Assistant Professor at the University of Buenos Aires and University of Barcelona. Paula is passionate about art and yoga teacher.
Morgan Jenatton
Morgan Jenatton is a social science researcher interested in the subjects of human/nature relationships, particularly surrounding food and agriculture. He holds a Masters in Agroecology and Social Development from AgroParisTech and the National Museum of Natural History in Paris. His Master’s thesis examined the consumption and perceptions of traditional maize beverages by secondary students in Chiapas, Mexico. He is based in Bristol as part of WP4 within the PERFORM project, evaluating students’ attitudes and perceptions of STEM, as well as exploring the impact of the participatory educational process on students’ learning.
Jennefer Peretti
She is currently working in the PERFORM H2020 EU project exploring the impact of the participatory educational process on students’ learning about an engagement in science. She holds a Master in Anthropology of the Environment from the National Museum of Natural History in Paris, in which she explored the acquisition and transmission of environmental practices and knowledge, namely in the contexts of underwater fishing and pastoralism. She is particularly interested in the role of the senses engaged in learning pathways relating to nature, and the relationship between humans and animals. She also worked with children in the French maritime territories about their knowledge on the reefs corals. Her interest in relations between societies and environment brings her to a PhD in Eco-anthropology in the fall of 2018.
Karla Berrens
Karla Berrens is researcher at IN3-Open University of Catalonia (UOC) with the TURBA research group (Urban research). She investigates the city’s configuration from the corporeal and emotional dimensions. Her background is in Sociology and Arts, specifically in urban sociology and sonic arts. Her research interests include urban phenomenology and relationality, corporal experiences in space and the role of our bodies and emotions in the shaping of our experiences. She has worked as lecturer in Education and keeps her artistic practice, exhibiting her sonic works internationally. Her research is interdisciplinary and mixed-media. She is a fellow at the UK Higher Education Academy.
Eduard Aib
ar is an associate professor of Science and Technological Studies at the Arts & Humanities Department (Universitat Oberta de Catalunya). He has been the director of the Internet Interdisciplinary Institute and vice-president for research at UOC (2005-2009). He is currently a research group on Open Science and Innovation. His research has focused on the interaction between scientific and technological development and organizational and social change in areas such as eGovernment, town planning and the Internet. He is currently leading a research project on the relationship between science and peer production; in particular, the project explores the scientific and technological content of Wikipedia articles and the way scientific and technological information is depicted in this open and collaborative platform.
She is a visiting early researcher studying her master in citizenship education in Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro, México. She is doing a project in environmental education using information technologies specifically in the orientation for sustainability such as altruism, diversity, frugality among others psychological attitudes that predict proenviromental behaviors. Her background in enviromental and social psychology gave her the chance to work in different participatory based projects in topics related to pollution, migration and gender in Mexico and Canada. Andrea will be colaborating in the Perform project from September to December 2017.
Marina Di Masso
Marina Di Masso acted as project manager of the PERFORM project from its beginning till February 2018. She holds a PhD in Sociology and has an Environmental Sciences background. Broadly framed in the environmental sociology field her academic interests focus on food sovereignty as a transformative project for agrifood systems, political agroecology, and alternative production, distribution and consumption paradigms within a critical agrifood studies framework. She has conducted research on intellectual property rights and agrobiodiversity, social aspects of the GMOs controversy and more recently on alternative food networks in Catalonia, addressing the transformative potential of the food sovereignty movement. Marina has also conducted research on sustainability policies, as well as studies on social perception and public opinion on environmental issues.
